Summer is on!

My last exams were two weeks ago (actually we have only two 6 hour exams with one day in between, so they go by pretty fast), so now I'm officially on holiday. Twio weeks of doing nothing but looking at the weather, the tv, take some pictures and do nothing. Sounds marvellous, doesn't it? But it's BORING. I'm not used to not working in the summertime. Being a student I normally work full time all summer. But this year I have earned enough through the whole year, so if I don't overspend I don't have to work. I thought it was a marvellous idea. Until it started.

Thing is, I think if you are used to work all the time, either studynig or working or both, having nothing to do is pretty stressful. I have watched Fruits Basket vol 1-6 (anyone know if there are more?), almost the entire Veronica Mars season 1 and Bones season 2. Watching so much tv gives me a headache, but I can't come up with anything productive to do. All my friends, including my boyfriend, are still struggling with exams or having serious jobs.

I know I sound winey, I just needed to get it out. Yes, I am super lucky and privileged, and being bored could be a blessing in disguise. At elast that's what I'm counting on. It must be some kind of warning signal that I feel this bored so quickly. Must mean I need lots more of it. I guess you all must prepare yourself for lots and lots of doll spam in the next few weeks ;)

So... Anyone else had similar experiences?

My first exam is on friday next week, and I'm not at the knowledge level I would like to be. But in my ususal tradition I'm doing anything and everything but studying hard. It actually makes me happy to read about other people doing the same things, actually plastic_army 's "I'm supposed to be writing an essay, but I'd rather take pictures of my dolls"-post inspired me to take pictures of Noa, my BJD.

Yesterday I made her three pair of socks (one pair was too small and was donated to katandpullip 's Hermine), I also made her two dresses, one white and one in brown retro print. She doesn't have a decent pair of eyes yet, and no wig. But I used an 8-9 Monique wig, which kinda worked. I can't wait to take some "real" photos of her. But in the mean time these will do.

I will upload more pictures to my new flickr account soon, just want to crop and add a little first. I decided to get a new flickr account for my dolls last week, I have one but it is filled with MLPs. I just find it more and more tidious to post my pictures in forums (lazy me), and I am getting more and more lurky in my ususal hangouts. At the moment I find myself preferring the more "private" arenas, like LJ and flickr, than big forums like PS. But that may be subject to change later again.

My Dollga Noella head came awhile ago, no pictures as its eye-, wig- and bodyless. I am going to look for matching bodies for the head. I'm not a big fan of Dollga's megrise body, it looks a bit lumpy to me. Sometimes I regret the decision of only getting the head, of course it was waaay cheaper at the moment, but it also means that my floating head may take a while before she becomes a "real doll". I am thinking of naming her Lucie, but we'll see when she is completed.

I did get in contact with a girl on DOA selling one of my MSD wants, Supia Yisol. She was a bit yellowed, but she was selling for a good prize. I have been planning on getting a MSD *eventually*, but I guess fate wanted it differently? It actually feels "safer" to handle pre-loved BJDs, they do not have that perfect and untouched look. I feel I can handle her without feeling guilty of leaving fingerprints. There will be a dolly meetup in Oslo in May, and I can't wait. It will be a lot more fun now that I have a lot to do and learn. My new girl needs sanding and blushing, and I need to locate nice-looking, dollga-matching bodies.

I suppose I need to admit that I'm gone waay over to the BJD side.

Shopadollic got some new mods, and I'm excited to see what will come of it. It will be good to get some new looks on things, hopefully they'll have some ideas as to what can improve and fun stuff to do on the board.

I guess it has just been waiting to happen... all of my online friends have been taunting me and luring me into the wonderful world of BJD with their beautiful pictures. I went totally crazy for my first girl, and bought a HUGE one, Dollga Noella. She is an SD girl, and everytime I think of her arrival I feel both awe and fright.

Well, we'll see.

On a more personal note:
I have spent the weekend in the rainy city of Bergen, on the west coast of Norway. Bergen is wellknown for almost constant rain, but I was very lucky and I was soaking wet only once. Unfortunately it was right before getting on the train home, so I spent the 7 hour train ride drying up the best I couId.

I have been home for exactly one day, and is experiencing the utter joy of endless internet access, and having the best boyfriend ever. Not that he did anything special, but it is just great to have someone to come home to who is happy to see you. Easter will soon be here, and I'm ready for cross-country skiing and lots of sweets. I can't wait! My sister katandpullip and I are going to our family's cabin in the mountains. We haven't been in a while, so I'm really looking forward to it. Seems like it's going to be a family convention of sorts. So yeah, still a happy bug!

I am! On saturday I was at my first ever doll meet. I felt pretty brave, although I'm not the shyest person ever it was a lot of strangers at once. I only ever shared this hobby with my sister, so it was a bit overwhelming to meet a lot of people with the same interest. Most people there were BJD collectors though, so I felt like the black sheep of the family. Luckily, I got to meet moeeeh , a fellow Pulliplover and my co-admin at www.shopadollic.com. She brought all her dolls, so I got to see my first RL taeyang and T1 body, plus beauties like Greggia and Oren.

I guess I'm not a BJD person yet, since those were the highlights of my day. Although it was fun to see the bjd owners string their dolls, I also got a glimpse of sueding and painting faceups. That was really cool, there is a lot of advanced work on those dolls, at least compared to pullips.

So, I'm definitely ready for a new meetup!

I got my salary today, after being broke for a couple of weeks. Of course, being broke meant that I haven't been buying anything for a while. So... naturally I went a little crazy. And now I feel bad about it. I definitely have better things to spend my money on than dolly stuff.

Here is the results of my craze:
- 2 Megipupu dresses (so cute!)
- Splitting Rot Chan and Tezca (stock for me)
- Bought a couple of UGG boots on eBay (gah, they are expensive!)
- Bought a hat from IamLily
- Bought Kanaria's stock
- Bought buttons and trims for the dresses I'm (hopefully) going to make
- Bought a Monique GOLD wig for my newest girl

Oh, well. The girls will be extatic, and making them happy is priority numero 1.
Or so it seems :P

I'm not doing any typical Valentine day thing. I am celebrating a friend's birthday, an all girls party actually. My poor boyfriend is going to stay at home, reading for his exams on tuesday.

I finally bought a Zuora! She was highest on my wantlist when I first got into Pullips, but then I decided to let her go and not get her. But here she is! She has a sweet face, but seems pretty tough on the inside. I'm still a bit on the fence if she is a keeper or not, I guess I'll have to wait until her wig gets here.

I have been overly jealous of everyone posting pics of their snowy backyards lately, but I went to visit my parents yesterday (still here actually), and guess what? SNOWY backyard! Yeahy! I couldn't resist taking Mia out for a photoshoot. I hade to wade in snow to my knees, I almost got frostbite, definitely got wet and cold, but I did it. The pictures will be posted later, I think they turned out pretty good.

This is how it looks today around my parents house. Just beautiful. It makes me sad that I live in the city where snow turns brown immidiately

And here is the new wonderful girl! For a wig I'm thinking something dark, black maybe. Either short or really long.

Lately I have been thinking of renaming Mia. There are so many called Mia, both dolls and people. And I'm not sure I like it anymore. I have been thinking about names like Selma, Una, Albertine or Agathe. More old fashioned names. What do you guys think? Do you have any suggestions? It feels a bit weird renaming a doll that has been with me for so long, but if it feels wrong it feels wrong. Right?

I always feel the need to look backwards when a new year begins. 2009 is no exception. In March I will be in my second year of Pullip madness. Time has really been running, I feel like a newbie still :)

My very first Pullip, Matilda (BNP) arrived in the end of March. I had ordered a Zuora from Pullipstyle, which was the doll I had wanted since I saw Pullips for the first time. After seeing Anabananabel's gorgeous pictures of her BNP, I changed my mind and Pm'd Shana so that I could change the order. I never regretted it. When I opened Matilda for the first time, i could only think "wow, she is beautiful". I have never had that feeling with any Pullip

I knew I needed a friend for Matilda, so I went searching. I ended up buying a secondhand Rida. This was not a success. I actually used to be scared of dolls, and didn't even want to sleep in the same room as one. I was never afraid of Matilda, but Rida with her black eyes on the other hand... an entirely different matter. I sold her rather quickly, and bought Suiseiseki. It e\was not the same "wow" as with Matilda, but she was cute and she came with a flaw, a cut on her eyebrow. So I had to love her. She was originally named Bree, but is known to the world today as Mia.

In 2008 I think I've gone a little crazy. Firstly, I discovered the fun of buying lots and lots of stuff for my girls. Which easily costs as much as many dolls. And then i went on a total buying spree when it comes to dolls.

First I bought Barasuishou. Not many in the doll community even knows I had this girl, even though she have been with me for a year. She got one photoshoot. Today she is living with the wonderful Wihstrum, who will love her tons more than I, i'm sure.

Then I bought my Nina, Sofie. i was a little bit afraid of this girl. She is undeniably cute, but in real life she has a bit of a blank stare. Even though I really liked Sofie, I have to admit I liked the Sofie in photos. In real life, not so much.

Then I preordered Xiao Fan. I had long been wanting new eyes for Mia, to make her less anime-ish. When I saw the promo pics of Xiao Fan, I thought "Perfect eyes for Mia". Then she arrived. I didn't like her eyes at all, but I thought she was cute. Then suddenly I needed to pair of eyes. Xiao Fan became Othelie, who I didn't bond with even though she is the sweetest doll I've ever seen.

Then I split Cinciallegra with my sister, because I thought the eyes might fit Othelie. She wore them a couple of times, but I never liked them on her. I sold Cinciallegra and her eyes in the end.

Then I bought Celsiy, just because she was a good buy and because I was sure I could use her eyes/stock. It was just one of those crazy buys that you never understand yourself, as times goes buy.

And since I was already on a rampage, i bought Alte, Uncanricky and Kirsche as well. The thing I've noticed is that when I open up a pullip now, I just think "oh, okay. Next, please?" I never get anything remotely to "wow" or "I like you". I wonder if it's like that for everyone? For the first time i can understand collectors who buys and buys, maybe waiting for that little "wow" which eludes them.

After this year of complulsive buying, I have realized that I'm just not a pullip collector when it comes to number of dolls. The second I get a lot of dolls, I freak out and wants to sell them. And when I look at the dolls, the newer ones always loose to my original two, Matilda and Mia. So, maybe that's what's meant to be.

So, what do the future hold? Well, I got my first dal and she's staying. She is the cutest little thing, and I'm so happy that I got her. Getting a dal sort of re-sparked the feelings that I once had with pullips.

I have bought one J-doll for her oufit, and I am planning two more purchases for the same reasons. One of them even have the type 4 body, which I'm dying to try.

When it comes to Pullips I am going to try to be strict with myself. I will not by pullips on a whim, and will try to split with people for outfits, instead of buying the whole doll. The only old doll I'll allow myself to buy is Zuora, just in case I really want to have her someday. I thought I may try a taeyang once as well, I really like Lead and Jade. So I'm not without hope, just on a short leash.

In February I gave milli_panda a wet willie, then I took it back (-5 points). In April I got in line at the supermarket at the same time as someone else and I didn't yield (-8 points). In August I bought porn for requiemart (10 points). In July I broke jenspullips's X-Box (-12 points). Last Sunday on a flight to Pakistan, I stole the emergency flight information card (-40 points).

Overall, I've been naughty (-55 points). For Christmas I deserve a moldy sandwich!

Buying spree... again

I have been very good lately, but it seems the better I get at not buying, the worse the fallback is. And the fallback always comes, sooner or later.

Instead of boring you with my shopping habits, I'd rather make a proclamation of sorts. I want to buy a couch for my girls. Like a real, good looking couch with real upholstery and fabric. Not the Barbie stuff. This new notion is really getting to me, in such a degree that I'm now surfing eBay waiting for that "perfect furniture". The sad thing is, that in the process of looking for this couch, I have discovered so many other furniture that are so nice. Possibly must-haves...

Yikes! Internet, and eBay, is the biggest threat to my savings by far.

I got my pre-ordered Xiao Fan yesterday, and accidentally put her wig on Mia. It looked so much better than I had ever thought, she was even dressed all in purple, her new favourite colour.

I have decided to sell Sofie, my Nina. I love how she photographs and that she always looks good in pictures, but in real life we have not bonded as well as|I had hoped. Sometimes she even creeps me out a little, I think it is her flat brown coloured eyes. So she now has her very own sales post at DM. And I'm feeling a little bit guilty... so on with the pictures!

You know how sometimes people on your friends list post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute? Since when are they working THERE? Since when are they dating HIM/HER? since when???" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you should already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.

Please copy mine below, erase my answers putting yours in their place then post it in your journal! Please elaborate on the questions that would benefit from elaboration! One-Word-Answers seldom help anyone out.

1. Name:
Anette. Pretty common name where I come from. Pronounced Anett-EH (not with a silenced e, like the English name). Online I am different things, most common is Aerith-versions or Lorentine.

2. Age:
28 (!) But not the least worried, except maybe for what other people think of me when they learn my actual age. I am usually percieved as younger, probably because I'm childish and does childish things.

3. Location:
Oslo, the capital of Norway. It's about 20 minutes from where I was raised, so I am "close to home".

4. Occupation:
I'm still studying (late starter) at the University. I study law, and have about one year left (out of five). This last year I worked on a free legal aid centre run by students. It was fun, but I'm looking forward to going back to finish this.

5. Partner:
I have been together with my boyfriend, Sverre, for about three months now, so it is pretty new. It's only a year and a half since me and my boyfriend of seven years split up, so I'm taking it rather slow. Sverre is a student as well, and the sweetest guy.

6. Kids:
I would want three kids someday. Problem is I'm awkward with children and scared about the whole giving birth-thing. We'll see...

7. Brothers/Sisters:
I have one sister and even though we are pretty different, we go together well. We have lots of interest we share, like sailing, watching cartoons from our childhood and even Pullips. We still fight over things though, mostly over politics :)

8. Pets:
Through my upbringing we've had two dogs, two quinea pigs, three birds and two desert rats. But I don't have any now, I have no room or time, and it's not allowed where I live. When I get a house with a garden I'm gonna get a dog.

9. List the 3-5 biggest things going on in your life:

One of my best friends is getting married. She's my third close friend to get married.

Final year of school. Have to get my stuff together and do my best!

Holiday: I am going to Denmark for a week, just to dance and practice. I can't wait, because I think it's going to be a lot of fun.

My best friend is coming from Northern Norway, where she's been the last two years, to spend the summer here. It will be like the old days.

So yeah, nothing too special going on in my life:)

10. What did you go to school for?

I go to law school, but previously I have taken classes in theatre and drama.

11. Parents:

My parents are still together, and live about 50 minutes busride from me. My dad finished law school, although he never became a lawyer. Today he works too hard as a project leader for projects I know nothing about. He likes to be in the sailboat, watch TV and ride his motorcycle. Mom has worked in a schooloffice for as long as I can almost remember. She goes to the gym everyday and is extemely fit. She likes to make cute birthda cards and spoil me ad my sister. They both can get on my nerves in ways no one else on the planet can.

12. Close Friends:

My best friend is from high school. We have a lot of fun together, and we like to watch the stars and think of the bigger questions in life. The rest of my friends have I picked up along the way since then. They are fun to be with, and tell me different levels of smart stuff about what to do when I have a problem. I love them all.

yesterday I was at my 10 year reunion for graduating from senior high. It was strange to meet all those people, it was very few of them I actually have seen since then. People are much the same; I guess. Met the one time boy of my dreams as well. He was nice, but seemed a bit shy. I only remember him as coolness.

The event made me think of my life so far, where I am considering where I hoped to be. I realize I was one of those kids with few outspoken goals, I just wanted to live my life as best I could and be happy and good. I guess I have accomplished this to a certain degree. I am happy, I love my friends and family. I am thankful for being born in a place where no one starves, and work is plentiful.

Sometimes though, especially at night, I think there has to be more to it. More mystery, more dangers, more hurt. Perhaps being happy over a too long period makes you hunger for other things? I have had my share of tears and heartache, and I do not wish to return to any of it. But I sometimes wish I could just jump on a plane and head for Africa. And just stay lost for a couple of years.

But I don't think my boyfriend would appreciate it ;)
